UPDATED COVID VACCINATION INFORMATION

Arlington County’s Public Health Division is continuing to offer free walk-in vaccine clinics, including neighborhood clinics. As a friendly reminder, these clinics are open to ALL ages 12 and above. No appointments or Arlington residency is required and you only some form of ID  is needed (can be utility bill, paystub, library card, insurance card, etc.—something with your name on it!). Below is a list of next week’s clinics, which are also found on our vaccine clinic page. Additionally, I’ve attached a multi-lingual flyer with next week’s schedule in both PDF and PNG format—so please share widely with your networks!

County Opens Vaccine Clinics for Ages 12-17

Following the news that the Pfizer vaccine has been approved for children ages 12-15,Arlington County is offering a series of clinics only for ages 12-17 in hopes of getting everyone in this age group vaccinated. Next week’s clinics are:

  • Saturday, May 22 and Sunday, May 23: Walter Reed Community Center (2909 16th St. South),9 AM-7PM; schedule only Schedule an Appointment
  • Monday, May 24: Kenmore Middle School (200 South Carlin Springs Road), 10 AM-4 PM; schedule only Schedule an Appointment
  • Tuesday, May 18-Friday, May 21: Walter Reed Community Center (2909 16th St. South), 12-8 PM; Schedule an Appointment

More Neighborhood Walk-In Vaccine Clinics

This week, Arlington County’s Public Health Division will host 3 more FREE walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinics for anyone eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. No appointments or Arlington residency required. 

 

The vaccine clinic at Walter Reed Community Center also will be open Monday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m. Learn more

 

The County will operate neighborhood clinics on:

  • Monday, May 17: Wakefield High School (1325 S Dinwiddie St.), 5-8 p.m.

 

  • Wednesday, May 19: Thomas Jefferson Middle School (125 S Old Glebe Road), 4-8 p.m.

 

  • Thursday, May 20: Hoffman-Boston Elementary School (1415 S Queen St.), 5-8 p.m.

 

  • Tuesday, May 18-Friday, May 21: Walter Reed Community Center (2909 16th St. South), 12-8 PM; NOTE: At this site only—you can walk in OR schedule an Appointment

CORONAVIRUS RESOURCES

Arlington County families and residents will be impacted by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

People who think they have symptoms of COVID-19 should contact their doctor or health care provider.
If you know a neighbor who is struggling financially, tell them to contact Arlington County’s Department of Human Services Community Assistance Bureau. They will be assigned a case manager who can make an emergency request to Thrive on their behalf. It’s located at 2100 Washington Boulevard, 1st Floor. Walk-in clients are accepted, and telephone counseling is also provided by calling 703-228-1350  (703-228-1788 TTY).  If they don’t reside in Arlington County, tell them to call 211 or visit www.211virginia.org to find out where they can get help in their community.

Food, Financial and Medical Assistance for Neighbors in NeedFood AssistanceSupplemental Nutrition Assistant Program (SNAP)Many Arlington households are eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The entire household does not need to meet eligibility requirements to receive benefits.

Effective March 25, 2020, the state will increase a household’s current monthly allotment to the maximum allowed for its size. For example, that is $194 for a single-person household in Virginia, $646 for a four-person household and $1,164 for an eight-person household. Learn more, and apply online with CommonHelp.

Arlington Public Schools Free Lunch/BreakfastsAPS is providing free grab-and-go breakfasts and lunches, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday-Friday. Visit APS for locations of the pick-up sites.

APS also has a list of other resources in the community, highlighting local businesses that are offering food to those in need.
Arlington Food Assistance CenterThe Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) provides free weekly supplemental groceries to Arlington residents in need. AFAC will continue to provide free weekly groceries to Arlingtonians in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, and distributions will continue at its Shirlington headquarters (2708 South Nelson Street).

Financial Assistance

Arlington County’s Department of Human Services assists low income Arlington residents who cannot meet their basic needs and is expanding supports to households affected by the coronavirus outbreak. Types of services provided include: Assistance with financial difficulty in paying rent, utilities, obtaining food, medical care, prescription medication, dental needs, transportation, eyeglasses and clothing. Learn more. Call 703-228-1300.

Unemployment InsuranceIf you are a worker who has been totally or partially separated from your job due to COVID-19, visit the Virginia Employment Commission to see if you are eligible for unemployment insurance, or call 866-832-2363, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (online applications are preferred).

General Unemployment Information on Claims related to layoff March 2020 Beginning with claims effective March 15, 2020, Governor Northam has directed that the one week waiting period and the requirement to conduct a weekly job search both be suspended for those receiving unemployment insurance benefits.

The Arlington Employment Center is operating at limited capacity to ensure social distancing due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus). All workshops, hiring events, and access to the Resource Center/Computer Lab is suspended at this time.
